Turning my Dash into a Field of Wildflowers

There was that time a long while ago when I said something about posting every Friday or Thursday or something like that.

Well, here we are.

My last post was April I think.

I have some projects I've done, photographed, and… there they sit, waiting to be written.

Summer is just a wild time to say the least.

But now it's August. Things are slowing down. Nights are slightly cooler than the days. People are being drawn back to the back hole that is college (this is merely my opinion of college that I gained from the 1 school that I attended for 2 years).

Going back to college.

This project was born from that. Not that it has anything to do with school. However, if you are sad about a friend leaving for school I highly suggest making your car look like a field of wildflowers threw up on your dash. The bright colors will make it nearly impossible to feel down.

I've had this one flower clipped to my dash for probably over a year now. That just didn't quite cut it though, so I went to Joann's to buy some clearance flowers and double sided gorilla mounting tape.

After ripping the flower tops from their stems I went to stick them to my dash with my super sticky double sided tape that sticks to literally everything.

Except my dash.

I don't know what it's made out of, but it is the most non-stick surface I have ever encountered.

After numerous failed attempts I had to go to work and I left the field of flowers piled on my passenger seat instead of stuck to the dash.

They stayed there for a week before I had a day off and a chance to get back to the project.

Through that time I'd given some serious thought to how I could get those flowers to stick.

Option 1: duct tape

Option 2: retry the gorilla tape on a cooler day

Option 3: E6000 glue, which is very permanent

(Yes, I did think about who may own this car after me and I just decided they could deal with the flowers. I mean who doesn't love flowers?)

With coffee in hand, glue acquired, and scissors at the ready, I set out to accomplish what I had failed at the previous week.

Only, the E6000, permanent craft glue, wouldn't stick to the dash either.

I then altered my approach.

The gorilla tape stuck to any hard plastic surface so I stuck on part of the flowers and then waited for a cooler time to see if the glue would stick when it wasn't nearly 100° inside my car.

The next morning I got up early enough to beat the heat and the glue stuck. I spent a fairly short time happily gluing flowers wherever I so pleased.

Then I was done.

The end result wasn’t what I expected it to be at all… It was 100 times better!!!

Seriously, I can’t help but smile every time I get in my car now.

Do I think everyone should do this? Absolutely I do.

Oh, I also added this sticker to the back of my car, which I’ve been meaning to do for a long, long, long time. The artwork is done by amazing friend Heidi, https://heidimessner.com/
