The Un-Bleaching Project

Bleach dying is a popular trend right now.

But what about those times when you unintentionally bleach something.

Black pants for instance.

At first I thought it was just some dirt or dust that I’d knelt in, but then I remembered the shower cleaner.

The shower cleaner to remove the mold in the shower.

The shower cleaner that had the word bleach in the title.

That was the culprit.

Now to the trained observer these pants might seem ruined, beyond saving, best to just go buy some new ones. Well, luckily I am not a trained observer and I don’t want to buy new pants at the moment so I have to repair what I’ve got with what I have available.

In this case that happened to be a black Sharpie.

Since these are black pants, I figured it’d serve my purpose.

You know how you were always told not to color on your clothes with permanent marker because it would stain and never come out? I was sincerely hoping that was a true statement.

First I colored in all the light spots with marker.

That didn’t look amazing so I employed some sure fire stain setting techniques.

  1. Rinse whatever you don’t want the stain to come out of in hot water

  2. Don’t wash it with laundry soap

  3. Just whatever you would do the get a stain out, do the opposite of that

Then all that’s to be done is wait and…

Basically just be astonished at how well this actually worked.
