"Cut it Yourself" At Home Hair Alteration
It snowed today. Now I both love and hate the snow. I love it because it keeps me from running around unnecessarily wasting gas, time, and money (inevitably). I hate it because I never want to go anywhere when it's snowy and sink into a life of hoboism (also referred to as cave troll, anti-socialite, or, my personal favorite, recluse).
Now, there's not a problem with staying at home. In fact, it's kind of a popular thing to be doing these days. However, there eventually develops a small seed of boredom. That seed can either grow or be put to use doing something productive. Then there's always the possibility that that productivity can turn semi destructive.
Today, for example, I decided that I would get a snow day, do fun indoor activities and stuff.
I made breakfast, did my French lesson, practiced piano for a while (I may share that song as soon as I master it because it sounds super pretty even though I'm mildly butchering it at the moment), did some cleaning, and by then it’s like 7:15 (no wait, that’s Tangled).
What I did next was not read books or paint.
I decided at this point that it might be fun to cut my hair...
I know everyone, since you were little, has told you not to cut your hair yourself because usually it fails miserably and looks awful. And it's hair so it takes a long time to grow out again.
But I had a pretty fail safe method thanks to the inspiration of Micarah Tewers.
She does a way better job of explaining it than I will so check her stuff out because honestly she's fan-FREAKING-tastic (sorry for the language).
Also, it's winter and hats exisit and by the time my hair needed to/needs to be presentable again it most likely would be/will be. So, I deduced that if Micarah could do it so could I. I grabbed my clippers and went to town.
All finished. This is what your trash can could look like. I cut off about an inch of hair. Kinda disturbing seeing all my just lying there in the garbage. It was also weirdly soft (yes, I touched it because why not?). Plus I was slightly stoked about the fact that it worked and I was pretending to be a model or something... Which is why I'm doing a pose… with my nail clippers.
Really though, it turned out pretty great and I'm really happy with that. In fact I may never go to a salon again because of this experience.
